Viva la Mexico!

Next week I am traveling to Mexico for business. After a brief stop in Mexico City I will travel on to Guadalajara. I will be deep in the heart of Mexico for 4 days! I suppose I will now be able to practice all the Spanish I took in high school and college. Oh wait! I took French because that made sooo much sense to do in West TEXAS!! Ugh...

I have never been to the state of Jalisco so it will be an experience. I will absolutely HATE being away from my precious boys but business calls. I did a little research on Guadalajara since I had never visited. It looks like a fantastic city to travel to and visit. Lots of history, great shopping and good food!

So now, I will indulge in my former history teacher mode and "learn ya" a little about the place I am going.

Guadalajara is known as the Pearl of the West or the City of Roses. For many years, it was considered a stopover on the way to other places. Over the last few decades, however, it has become a popular tourist destination in its own right in western Mexico.Guadalajara is the second-largest city in Mexico (with 3.5 million people, it's a very distant second to Mexico City), but because it's the homeland of mariachi music, the jarabe tapatío (the Mexican hat dance), and tequila, many consider it the most Mexican of cities.
